Dragon boat teams are made up of 22 people - 20 paddlers, a drummer and a sweep. Dragon boat racing is a sprint race which requires precise timing and technique, combined with raw power. Racing distances vary between 250 to 1000 metres which is covered in a two tonne boat in less than 2 to 3 minutes.
